How sure we are
Checked on November 6, 2026 against IRCC’s own CRS calculator: 20,000 sample profiles get the same points in every section. Your score in your Express Entry profile is the one that counts.
Canadian work points are work-length points plus high-wage points. They’re compared with job offer points and you get whichever is higher, up to 150 (140 with a spouse).
Section A is out of 570 (530 with a spouse) and the total is out of 1,270, as on IRCC’s CRS criteria page.
A spouse’s Canadian work keeps its own table (up to 10 points). High-wage points are only for the main applicant.
Questions people ask
Do I need an LMIA for job offer points now?
No. Since November 3, 2026, job offer points depend on the occupation’s high-wage level: 50, 70 or 100. IRCC’s profile form still asks about an LMIA until it is updated.
Which TEF Canada score does Express Entry use?
The “Équivalence ancien score” column: reading out of 300, listening out of 360, writing and speaking out of 450. Typing the scores out of 699 into a calculator that expects ancien scores gives a much lower result. This calculator takes either column.
Why does IRCC’s calculator give me 25 French points instead of 50?
If French is your first language and your English test is PTE Core, IRCC’s calculator gives 25. Its own criteria page says 50, and this calculator follows the criteria page.
Is the high-wage level about my own pay?
No. It belongs to the occupation: its national median wage against the median for all workers. 186 occupations count: 31 at 2x, 89 at 1.5x and 66 at 1.3x.
Is this the official calculator?
No. It is an independent calculator that follows IRCC’s published rules and gives the same result as IRCC’s calculator on 20,000 test profiles. Your official score is the one in your Express Entry profile.
